Als Josef Klier im Jahr 1948 in Birkenfeld die Mundstückherstellung wieder aufnahm, sprach sich dies bei den umliegenden US-Army-Bands herum. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren hauptsächlich Mundstücke für Drehventilinstrumente gefertigt worden. Die Trompeter und Posaunisten der Army-Bands aber bevorzugten für Ihre Instrumente eine andere Kesselform. Sie überließen Josef Klier Muster von Mundstücken, die in Mount Vernon, USA hergestellt worden waren. Die von Roland Klier gefertigten detailgetreuen Kopien dieser Modelle wurden von den Army-Musikern begeistert angenommen. Da diese Mundstücke ihren Ursprung in den USA hatten, war es für Josef Klier naheliegend, die neuen Modelle unter JK USA Linie zusammenzufassen.
